We’re a small, independent bookstore in the historic Liberty Building in Tawas City, Michigan. Come down to say hello–you’ll find us at 402 West Lake Street (Route 23)–and grab a coffee at the SunnySide Cafe.
Bring your coffee and browse. Bring your kiddos and read. Come for an event, or host an event here. Our goal is to welcome everyone–locals and visitors, alike–to find their next favorite book, relax in a comfortable space, and build community. We look forward to meeting you!

What’s happening?
On April 17, 2026, we’ll be hosting a book launch for local author Hanna Shields, who has just completed Rising Phoenix, a young adult dystopian for ages 10+.
Our latest Bookish Cat is Billy. We are fostering this cutie until he finds a forever home.
Classical guitarist Sam Halstead is teaching guitar lessons to youth and adults in our space on Thursday evenings.
We have a Bookish Book Club that meets here on the 2nd Thursday of each month. Reach out to learn more.
In February, we hosted Weekend Crafternoons. Though the event is over, feel free to use our space for crafting with friends
In December, 2025, we hosted a 250th birthday tea party for Jane Austen, who was born in December of 1775.
